Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about EMI Manager (Y-EMI) and how it helps you stay on top of your credit commitments.
What is an EMI?
An Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) is a fixed payment amount made by a borrower to a lender at a specified date each calendar month. EMIs are used to pay off both interest and principal each month so that over a specified number of years, the loan is paid off in full. With EMI Manager, we help you break down this complex calculation into simple numbers. Understanding your EMI structure—how much goes toward the principal and how much is lost to interest—is the first step toward better debt management and eventual financial freedom.
How do I track my EMIs effectively?
Tracking EMIs effectively requires a system that is both automated and accessible. Instead of manual diaries or complex spreadsheets, EMI Manager allows you to input your loan details once—including the principal amount, interest rate, and tenure. The app then generates a complete amortization schedule for you. The most effective way to track is by using the app’s built-in payment markers; whenever you pay an installment, simply tap "Mark as Paid" to update your remaining balance and see how close you are to finishing the loan. Our visual charts and progress bars make tracking intuitive and fast.
Is EMI Manager free to use?
Yes, EMI Manager offers a feature-rich "Free Forever" plan that is perfect for individual users. All the core functionalities—including adding multiple loans, tracking monthly bills, setting up payment reminders, and basic cloud syncing—are available without any cost. To support the ongoing development and server costs, the free version includes small, non-intrusive advertisements. For power users and businesses who require an ad-free experience, advanced PDF/CSV reports, and specialized retailer tools, we offer a "Retailer Pro" upgrade. This transparent model ensures that anyone can start managing their debt regardless of their financial status.
Can retailers and shop owners use this app?
Absolutely! In fact, EMI Manager (Y-EMI) is unique because it features a dedicated Retailer Mode. This mode is designed specifically for shop owners who sell products (like furniture, electronics, or mobiles) on their own local finance or EMI plans. Retailers can manage a digital ledger of all their customers, track who has paid and who is overdue, and send professional payment reminders via WhatsApp or SMS with a single tap. It replaces the old paper ledger system (Khatta) with a modern, secure digital database, making business collections much faster and organized.
Is my financial data safe?
We take data security very seriously. Your financial information is first stored locally on your device for fast access and offline capability. If you choose to log in, your data is securely synced to Google Firebase, one of the most trusted and secure cloud infrastructures in the world. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transfers. Furthermore, we do not have access to your bank accounts or private passwords; EMI Manager is a tracking tool where you manually input your data, meaning your actual money remains safe in your bank while the app only helps you monitor the numbers.
Does the app support Credit Card EMIs?
Yes, it does. Many debt management apps overlook the complexity of credit card installments, but EMI Manager has a dedicated module to handle them. You can add specific purchases that you've converted to EMI on your credit cards, track the high interest rates often associated with them, and see how they impact your monthly bill separately from your other home or personal loans. This helps you understand your "True Debt" and ensures you never get surprised by a credit card statement at the end of the month.
Is EMI Manager better than using Excel?
While Excel is powerful, it is not built for the dynamic and mobile nature of debt tracking. EMI Manager vs Excel is a clear win for the app because of automation. Excel requires manual formula entry and lacks the ability to send you push notifications when an EMI is due. EMI Manager lives on your phone, provides one-tap payment marking, generates professional receipts instantly, and offers a specialized dual-mode for retailers that would be extremely difficult to replicate in a spreadsheet. Switch to EMI Manager to save hours of manual data entry every month.
